How to Prepare:

• Register by May 26. Participants must be registered by May 26 to attend, and there will not be any registration during the event.

• Bring your Bokken & Jo. Extra sets will not be available.

• Bring a Tsuba (hand guard) for your bokken. Your bokken will need a proper-fitting tsuba, preferably in leather or rawhide for durability. If you need recommendations on where to buy one, please use the contact info below. Ryushinkan also makes and sells them and can do so if contacted by May 19 at info@ryushinkanaikido.com

• No aikido uniforms for outdoor training. Dress for the activity & weather. We recommend rugged and comfortable shoes, like hiking boots or sneakers with good cushioning, since we will be on pavement.

• Bring your own water bottle. There is a water fountain by the bathroom house to fill up throughout the day.

• We recommend bringing sunglasses and a hand towel.

We will be about 5 bridge bays west of the river.

This location has excellent ventilation from it’s off-the-water breeze. It is under an enormous overpass that provides shelter from rain and thunderstorms. The ground is flat, well paved, and well kept, with a large parking lot and clean bathroom house. For those bringing family, there are 2 playgrounds and a frisbee-sized field just steps away, and plenty of fun shopping, cuisine, and activities nearby in Old Town Alexandria.

The above locations are absolutely delightful, right near Ryushinkan and a 12 minute walk to the outdoor weapons location. These locations allow you to walk to everything, and be in the heart of the prettiest part of Old Town Alexandria, including all of its tourist attractions, cuisine, and shopping.
